Each individual has their own strengths and challenges when it comes to how we receive information and learn. However, in some cases, there can be an underlying cognitive issue that is a contributing factor.
HBH conducts learning assessments that not only help diagnose, but also act as the first step in treatment. Although not an exhaustive list, the most common learning disabilities that HBH diagnoses and treats are dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, processing speed and autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
These cognitive struggles are not treated with medication, but rather with alternative learning techniques that can be practiced at home and at school. It is important to remember that children and adults with learning disabilities such as these, are capable of learning and comprehending information. The largest difference is the way in which they learn and how information must be presented to them to best suit their learning style.
